A binder containing four reports by George W. Bain, a professor of geology and minerology at Amherst College, relating to the verde antique serpentine found in the Missisquoi valley of Vermont, including the towns of Lowell, Westfield, Troy, and Jay. The reports were based on field work done in August and September, 1929 and during the summer of 1930. Included in the report are maps and photographs of the deposits.

Bain was born in Canada and educated at McGill (B. Sc., 1921; M. Sc., 1923) and Columbia (M.A., 1923; Ph. D., 1927) Universities. He taught at Amherst College, 1926-1966, in geology and minerology. Bain was a consulting geologist to the Vermont Marble Company, as well as in the State Geological Survey of Vermont, Canadian Geological Survey, McIntyre Porcupine Mines and Phelps Dodge Corporation.
